Chip offers guided crappie fishing trips during the months of February, March, April, October, and November. These trips are fast-paced, offering plenty of action. He has built and maintained over 100 brush piles in Hartwell lake. During these trips, customer use light tackle rigged with small jigs and minnows that are presented directly over these brush piles to catch lots of crappie. These trips take place on the Tugaloo River side of the lake where there are no fish consumption advisories on eating black crappie. The limit of crappie per person is 30. Chip consistently averages over 50 crappie per trip, with catches over 100 happening frequently.
Lake Hartwell was built in the late 1950's by the Army Corp of Engineers. It spans across 56,000 acres with 960 miles of shoreline that straddles both South Carolina and Georgia. Hartwell is located 45 minutes south of Greenville on Interstate 85 and 1 1/2 hours north of Atlanta on Interstate 85.
